Examining Ancient Artifacts
We know about ancient cultures because we are able to examine the artifacts that they have left behind. Below are some artifacts from the Island of Crete. These are from the Palace at Knossos an Ancient Mycenaean City.
The artifacts below are from the Hellenic Museum in Athens. You will see jewlery, pottery, pottery shards, weapons, and more.
Visit this website by the British Museum to explore more of the pots found in Greece cities and what we've found out about the Ancient Greeks from them. Ancient Greece: Daily Life: What's in a Pot? |
Ancient Architecture
Ancient Greek Architecture has had a lasting impact on us. If you drive around Chicago you will see many buildings that feature the distinctive columns that we attribute to the Greeks. Check out this slideshow of some of the ancient sites that I've been able to visit.
